First baby born at home

Read my clients feedback about Independent Midwifery care for the pregnancy, birth and postpartum period of her first baby.

Home birth and Independent midwifery were two options I had never even considered before getting pregnant. After hearing about home birth on a podcast, my husband and I did lots of further research into the benefits of giving birth (a physiologically ‘normal’ event) in a safe, unobserved and familiar place - we were sold on a home birth.

At the time we made the decision to pursue a home birth I was still under the care of an NHS midwife, but given that they could not guarantee who would be in attendance at our birth or even whether they would have the resource at the time, we started to look into independent midwifery. The best decision we could have made!

From the very first contact we had with Debbie I felt so at ease, heard and understood. The prenatal care Debbie and Sarah provided, in our home, was such a wonderful experience and I remember feeling throughout this time like we were planning for a very important party! Nothing was rushed, every concern and query was listened to and I felt truly cared for.

Debbie and Sarah are so clearly meant to be midwives, in the true sense of the word - they were with me whilst I gave birth (the most intense and incredible experience of my life) whilst giving the exact amount of assistance, encouragement and reassurance that I personally needed.

Debbie went above and beyond with the care that she offered me and my husband and once he arrived, our new born baby boy. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone who is looking for a professional, passionate and incredibly caring independent midwife. Choosing an independent midwife for my prenatal care and our home birth was the best decision we feel we could have made for ourselves and for the birth of our son and we are so thankful that we found Debbie.
